Dear Freshman Abby,
As the chronic daydreamer that you are, you’ve already imagined a thousand different ways your high school experience will go.
While a part of me wants to write a letter critiquing you, telling you of all the ways you should change — words you should’ve said, opportunities you should’ve taken advantage of, outfits you should’ve absolutely never worn — as I look back, I can’t help but feel proud of you and the decisions you’ve made.
I do, however, have one piece of advice for you: dream big. Don’t limit yourself to dreaming of only what you think is within reach. I know you often try to simply hope for things that seem realistic in order to avoid disappointment. However, that exact mindset will also cripple your ability to improve.
As you start envisioning the person you want to be, it’s good to ground yourself in reality. But also, don’t ignore those little aspirations you have. Those dreams are what’ll guide the decisions you make, how hard you work, and the person you’ll become.
So get up and do something. You’ll never catch your dreams sitting still.
All the love,
Abs
P.S. don’t waste your time on boys; they’re not worth it.
