Starting position
If your right hand is dominant, turn your hips slightly to the right with your feet pointing towards the net in preparation to serve. If left hand dominant mirror these same steps in the opposite way. Hold the ball in your left hand stretched out at shoulder height. Bring your right arm up above your head at a 90-degree angle with your palm facing toward the net and have your left foot forward.
Approach and toss the ball
Step forward with your left foot, then toss the ball the length of a volleyball higher than your highest reach in front of your right shoulder. Afterwards, quickly step with your right foot first then left foot, and jump up and forwards.
Make contact with the ball
