With a 5-7 record, the baseball team hosts Mission Hills Wednesday, April 10. Miles Russel (10) believes that one of the team’s focuses is their offense and making sure they have a strong batting lineup. Russel also talked about Coach Brian Stimpson’s plans for the boys to loosen up during games which would allow them to not be as stressed out and make mistakes.
“Our coach wants us to focus on playing more loose and trying to have fun because we [usually] play all scared and tight, so we’re more likely to make mistakes,” Russel says, “We’re really trying to improve our offense.”
The boys had been struggling with their batting, but with the help of their coach and days of practice, they improved their skills
“We are working on bunting which helps advance the runners on the bases,” Russel said, “[Our] coach helped with our forms so that we would be consistently successful with bunting.”
However, Russel believes that with their teamwork, they will have less to worry about.
“I think that we’re on the come-up right now,” Russel said. “We’re going to get better as the season goes on and I think that we’re only improving every day.”
