Letter to Freshman Self: Haven

Dear Haven,

For you, a freshman who’s been stuck inside for months due to COVID, four years seems like a lifetime. But I promise, it’s going to go by in the blink of an eye.

You’ll cry (a lot) and laugh (even more) as you find out, while getting closer to graduating, that it’s all worth it in the end. Everything, from the unimaginable highs to the crushing lows, is all worth living for. You don’t know that yet, and you won’t discover it for a long time. That’s okay. Keep pushing through, and you’ll see it, even if it’s just for a moment at a time.

Eventually, you’ll find everything you need, whether it be on a warm spring day with a book in one hand and a coffee in the other or on a rainy autumn morning, wearing your warmest, coziest sweater or on a midsummer night, listening to Mitski on repeat. It’s all worth it. Every moment.

Love,

Haven
