Dear freshman Evelyn,
Although you are probably busy rewatching Twilight and worrying if people know that you exist, I want to let you know that you belong here.
At the end of sophomore year, you will watch Dead Poets Society in Tanaka’s Honors Humanities class, and I want you to take it from Mr. Keating when he says carpe diem. Although it might be easier to fade into the background and remain a wallflower as you usually do, getting out there and seizing the day is the best thing that you can do for yourself.
Join The Nexus earlier, don’t be embarrassed to go try-hard mode on the triathlon, and raise your hand more because we both know you know the answer.
It’s hard facing imposter syndrome the day you step foot onto campus, not knowing anyone, and finding friends amongst previously established groups but it’s even harder regretting not trying.
I have so much faith that you will do amazing things in your future that even the senior year version of yourself doesn’t even quite believe it yet – that not even 200 words can summarize.
Oh and for the love of god, start your college apps early.
With love, senior Evelyn
